Winding our way through the pilgrim lanes, you will be popping in and out of the alleys to riverside vistas for glimpses of the Ganga river.
This walk alongside the river and parallel lane will give you an insider’s look at the life of the pilgrim and backpacker area of Varanasi.
Beginning at a historic fortress you wander the lanes in the South Indian area to the oldest intact Shiva temple of the city, entering barefoot if you like!
Eventually we end up in Bengali Tola, the neighbourhood of the Bengalis, and visit a hidden Mother Goddess shrine.
The tour finishes at the historic ritual bathing site of Dasashwamedh Ghat, the embankment of the ten horse sacrifice, which is the geographic centre of the riverside.
